Sometimes we need to prune, trim and let go of some things in order to grow stronger where we need to and to focus on where we truly belong.
Did you know that plants have a horomone in the tips of growth shoots that creates strength in the strongest branches? The shoots release the horomone auxin, and it travels into the main stem and then to the strongest branches to inhibit growth in other areas. When there is already too much auxin in the main stem, it will not send out the growth horomone to any other shoots to be established so the plant can grow balanced and purposely. And pruning the weaker, dead branches keeps this horomone flowing in the strongest parts of the plant for it to be healthy and to thrive.
Sometimes we need to prune so that our focus and energy flows to where God intends it to be, so we can grow balanced and purposely as well.
For many years, I’ve had my hands in a lot of things. From my weight loss journey, I fell in love with fitness and personal training and was blessed to help others on their path. Creating my own workout program, Cardiometrics was challenging and amazing, and I am very proud of those that joined me in it. Through my passion for music I shared how it affected my life, and I am blessed that God has used my talents in many ways. My focus on life coaching and motivating has been a remarkable journey over the past year, and it has opened the door to what God has truly called me to do and my eyes are open to the endless possibilities He has waiting for me.
For the last 2 years, I have been told by many to slow down, focus on one thing at a time, and to maybe let go of things that weren’t working. In my stubbornness, I continued to work tirelessly to try and make everything work. I figured if I had my hand in everything, eventually something would catch and it would take off and my dreams would start coming true. I refused to give anything up because I didn’t want to miss any opportunity I might create something. My focus was on what I can do, what I should do, and what I know I’m capable of.
And now, my focus has shifted.
It no longer is what I can do, it is what God will do through me. It isn’t what I should do for me, it is what will do to share God’s love with the world. It isn’t what I am truly capable of, it is what God is capable of doing through me.
“Not my will, but Thine, be done.” Luke 22:42
Yesterday as I was driving I got the message again to focus and to cut away those things that no longer serve me and take my energy away from my future. And now I am happy to do so, because I know God is in control. I don’t have to hold on to everything in hopes of something happening; all I need to do is hold on to Him, stepping forward in faith and he will guide my steps to everything He has promised.
My Facebook pages BigWheel Fitness, BigWheel Music Services, Cardiometrics and BigWheel Enterprises are all in the process of being deleted. Although I haven’t used them much of late, they take my attention and focus away from my purpose.
It’s time to cut off the weaker branches so that the stronger ones can grow! Here I am Lord, send me!
