Where Your Attention Goes…

Remember the movie 8 Mile?

Eminem’s character was easily intimidated and had to struggle through a severe lack of confidence. In one of the biggest rap battles of his life, instead of focusing on the other person, he took the other person’s “ammo” away by making fun of himself. He didn’t care about stinging and ripping the other rapper; he took all the attention and surprised everyone by putting the focus on his own downfalls and weaknesses.

Here is a gentle reminder for you- even if they are birthed from the most well intentions, when you put so much focus on the enemy you’re allowing him a taste of victory because you’re giving him the attention.

Often in Christianity, our hearts for others to see the truth are expressed through telling them how wrong they can be. We can be quick to say things are unGodly, of Satan, harmful, wrong, will lead to eternal damnation; quick to point fingers and polarize others. We get drawn into this world of finding the evil, hate and negativity in everything we see and our focus shifts from God’s love and a relationship with Him.

Satan doesn’t care if your bashing him; he thought he was higher then God Himself so his feelings aren’t being hurt and his grandiose ego stays intact. I’m pretty sure he believes, “No publicity is bad publicity” and he finds tremendous satisfaction when he can divert the attention of Christians.

You know what he doesn’t like? He doesn’t like us sharing how much God LOVES us. Sharing that no matter what we have done and where we have been, that with Jesus we have unconditional forgiveness and love. He doesn’t like us sharing our testimonies about how our lives and hearts have been transformed by a peace that passes all understanding, and that the Creator of this entire universe wants to wrap His loving arms around us and take away our pain.

He doesn’t want our Precious Lord to recieve the praise, worship and adoration that He deserves- so let that be an incentive to do it even more.

Let the motivation for all you do be grounded in the unwavering love of the one true Saviour, and shout it from your mountaintop!

Light will always overpower the darkness friends, but you MUST let it shine so that it can happen.
