I’ve been so quiet online lately.
I needed some time away to really focus on my heart and my call, and work through some messy emotions that the old me would have swept under the rug. I would have simply looked beyond the negative feelings and focused on what I love, enjoy and what makes me happy.
And, on the surface, there is nothing wrong with focusing on what makes you happy. I taught that philosophy for years through my life coaching, speaking and in all walks of my life. “What brings you joy, fulfillment and empowers you is where you should pour your energy.”
You do you, boo boo.
The problem with living like that is when you don’t take the time to deal with the messy stress, the frustrations and distractions, you don’t have a strong foundation to build upon. You will build layer after layer of superficial happiness that rests on top of a simmering pool of unresolved restlessness that grows bigger with every disappointment.
What happens when one of your happy things gets taken away, moves away, disappears or doesn’t exist anymore? That disappointment grows, and you move even further into the mess and away from your purpose.
Through my own walk and experience, I now know what a difference it can make when we pursue holiness instead of happiness.
Why?
Because when you pursue holiness, you get to a point of surrender to Jesus. You begin to learn His plans for you, and you start to lose sight of what you thought you wanted, felt you needed and the desires that identified you. You start to feel this overwhelming love rising up inside your heart and pouring out into your life because you are devoting your energy to One who loves you endlessly.
“I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have drawn you with everlasting kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3
When you pursue holiness, you submit to the perfect love of Jesus, which allows Him to heal you and causes you to grow through the unresolved stress and fear. The restlessness disappears under the tremendous grace He has for us and a peace that truly passes all understanding. (Philippians 4:7)
When you pursue holiness, you are aligning with what you were created to do, why you are here in this world, and why Jesus has called you by name. And that brings a happiness and a joy inside your heart that words can’t express, and the blessings that flow into your life as a result is breathtaking!
I always believed that finding your own joy and happiness came from personal empowerment, but I promise you that is nothing compared to being empowered by Jesus as you surrender and allow His love to flow through your life.
How can I help you on your path to healing, alignment and holiness? What steps can you take right now to start finding what He has planned for you?
It all starts with one simple, authentic statement, “Jesus, I need you.”
He’s ready for you, I promise. ❤️
